WHAT TO BRING

Iron Artist Participation Info

  1. Molds: Artists can can bring whatever they want EXCEPT for molds that are intended to "react", ie: explode / spray metal everywhere. Keep in mind our ladles are only 100lb capacity, so try to stay within that weight for iron needed, (including gates and cups!) to fill your mold. We'll also have a group of artists doing ceramic shell molds, so if that's something you plan to bring, we can supply the gas & torches needed for the preheat, but please be prepared to bring your own armatures and arrange to build a pre-heat area ready to go for the molds you plan to bring. For anyone bringing molds of any kind, please connect with Alisa@FeLionStudios.com to provide more info about what you are planning to bring to the pour.

  2. Cost for making sand molds at the studio: $50/100lbs of sand thrown. Mi Casa es Su Casa. You’ll have access to all of the studio’s materials, tools and helping hands to get you across the finish line & what you need to successfully create your work inside of the FeLion studios mold making shop. If planning to make sand molds at FeLion Studios, YOU MUST BE IN TOWN NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY MORNING before the event weekend to get started. Please contact Alisa before the end of January, so we can prepare to make your experience positive and successful while you are in town!

    **Sand studio will be CLOSED to mold making the Friday before the iron pour event. Please plan accordingly and give yourself enough time to make your sand molds for PYHO! :}

  3. Cost for Iron Castings $3.50/lb of iron cast - sprues and cups included. We weigh out + pay out on Sunday afternoon the day after the pour. No de-vesting during the Saturday event please! Be prepared to bring cash, check or pay via VENMO. No credit cards please!!!!
